Fontilles

Fontilles is a Spanish non-profit foundation with over 120 years of experience improving the health and dignity of people affected by neglected tropical diseases, particularly leprosy. Its Sanatorium, opened in 1909, played a key role in eliminating leprosy in Spain. Fontilles combines medical care, research, advocacy, and international cooperation to fight diseases that still cause disability, stigma, and exclusion in vulnerable communities. It supports projects in India, Bolivia, Brazil, Mozambique, Malawi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo through local partnerships focused on diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, health education, and health system strengthening. In Spain, Fontilles provides care for dependent elderly people and those with brain damage, and manages a historical archive and training center on public health and global cooperation. Its mission is rooted in human dignity, social justice, and the belief that healthcare is a right, not a privilege.
