Submit your photos to the Beat NTDs photo contest
Neglected Tropical Disease (NTDs) are a group of treatable and preventable diseases that continue to affect over 1.5 billion of the world's most impoverished, marginalised people living in remote communities. Despite their prevalence, they get little attention or coverage.
We are partnering with the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene to launch a photo competition to find the most engaging photographic representation of the work being done to prevent, control, treat and eliminate neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) around the world.
The photo competition is an opportunity to raise awareness of the devastating impact NTDs can have on people’s lives, but also the positive stories of those on the ground delivering services including treatment and care, working in communities, researching treatments and lobbying governments in their collective efforts to achieve a world free of NTDs.
Open to all
The competition is open to all, but more specifically those in the field of tropical medicine and global health.
The winners will be announced and exhibited at the NNN conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 24-26 September 2018. The overall winner will win a cash prize of £500 and the chance to be on the cover of RSTMH’s journal, International Health.
The RSTMH and NNN photo competition 2018 is open to anyone working in the field of tropical medicine and global health across the globe.
Innovative and striking images
We are looking for innovative and striking images that represent any aspect of the fight against neglected tropical diseases.
This could be images of a treatment programme, human interest portraits, shots of mosquitos/parasites, researchers at work, or any objects or environments that represent NTDs.
Where to send your images
Send your images to sarah [dot] marzouk [at] rstmh [dot] org with a brief caption (explaining who is in the image, the location, the project/content of the photo, the organisations/institutions involved, disease(s) represented, etc.) and photo credit for a chance to win a cash prize of £500and have your image featured on the cover of RSTMH’s journal, International Health. The deadline for submissions is 17 August at 17:00 BST.
The 10 best images (as judged by our judging panel) will also be featured in a photo exhibition at the NNN conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 24-26 September 2018.
