Sightsavers

Sightsavers is an international charity working in over 30 countries worldwide. We help to distribute treatments to prevent disease, carry out eye operations, advocate for disability rights and improve health services. Our vision is of a world where avoidable blindness is eliminated, and people with disabilities have equal rights.
Together with our partners, Sightsavers helps run large-scale neglected tropical disease (NTD) programmes to help protect communities from five NTDs: trachoma, lymphatic filariasis, onchocerciasis, schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminths. We work with thousands of local volunteers to distribute millions of donated treatments to protect people against NTDs, and teach them about the importance of good hygiene to prevent infection.
While significant progress has been made towards NTD control and elimination, the global mission to eliminate NTDs not yet been achieved. More funding, collaboration and support is needed to rid endemic countries of these painful and poverty trapping conditions.
